The River Shepard

I painted this to honor a friend, mentor, and legend of the fisheries world who passed away a few years ago. It took me far longer to get to it than I intended, but perhaps the completion of "The River Shepard" is right on time.
 
Brad was a larger than life figure - an exemplary biologist and human, always vocal about what he believed in and incredibly supportive of his fisheries colleagues. I think of him often in these times. My hope is that this painting reminds us all to not only remain steadfast, but more than anything, be there for each other.
