Call to Action

Our work is vital to monitoring the recovery of white sharks along the California coast. We have been surveying white sharks for over 30 years dating back to 1987. However, the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted institutional funding sources. We have maintained uninterrupted data collection through generous donations. The enthusiasm of our work led us to create this non-profit in 2022 to keep the surveys going and to help ensure the continued protection of the white sharks in California. Tax deductible donations are used directly for research expenses, including boat charters and crew, fuel, and photography supplies. Thank you in advance for your contribution!

White Sharks

As top predators, a population of white sharks requires a functional and balanced ecosystem to thrive. Therefore, a thriving population of white sharks can be a good indicator of a healthy ecosystem.

Sharks in general are often considered to be the ‘keepers of balance’ in the oceans. They create balance by regulating populations of mesopredators, or predators that are eaten by sharks.

Our Organization

Our 501(c)(3) organization uses non-invasive methods of attracting white sharks to the research vessel for purposes of data collection to assess the population of white sharks off California.
