Roosterfish
I painted this for a mentor of mine, a legend in the fisheries community and someone I am proud to have known. I have always wanted to paint a roosterfish - mostly because there simply is no other fish like them - but I always find that my artwork benefits when there is a personal backstory. I believe that shines through in this piece, and I am overwhelmingly happy with how it turned out.
Roosterfish are legends themselves in the sportfishing world, mentioned in the same breaths as steelhead, muskie, and bonefish, but they are also incredibly unique as a species and a joy to paint.
