Deep Sea Octopus (Muusoctopus)
The ROV Deep Discoverer found this deep sea octopus of the genus Muusoctopus making its way across the sea floor at a depth of about 600 meters on an expedition of the NOAA research vessel Okeanos Explorer in the Gulf of Mexico. Octopi always seem to be full of character and this individual was no different, tolerating the ROV for a brief moment before deciding to hide in a burrow.
